A BABY GIRL'S PINK & DREAMY NURSERY
Pink and white with hints of yellow and a splash of gold, this baby girl nursery is light-filled and absolutely dreamy! I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am to share my newest project, little Nayviah's baby room with you all. Baby Nayviah's nursery is finished and it is pure bliss.
Sweet little Nayviah was not yet here when we were dreaming up and creating the room she would come home to. This room had a black ceiling when I first saw it and right away I knew we wanted to brighten it up and make the most of the gorgeous Vancouver light when it shines. Nayviah's mom had two must-haves on her list: drapery over the crib and damask wallpaper. We worked together to choose the perfect paper and this one really has to be felt and seen up close to get the full effect; there is a shimmer to it that sparkles beautifully when the light shines.
She was a dream client, loving what I presented and seeing my vision right from the start. The room is both airy and bright, soft and serene and the blackout curtains ensure that nap time and bedtime are dark (so important with tiny babes). Working with local artist, Dana Mooney, we created an Ikat on canvas that pulled the yellow, pink, off white and gold together.
Nayviah has a toddler brother and I wanted to make sure that this space was a retreat for her, a place she could be rocked gently and read to away from the rest of the world. I just love how the book wall turned out with the Ubabub acrylic shelves and she is going to love peering into those mirrors to see her reflection as she grows.
The mobile was custom made and sent from France from the sweetest handmade shop Creme Anglaise, and I have been eyeing it for ages waiting for the perfect space to place her work in. It's hard not to include at least a one of the Animal Print Shop art prints in a space for a little one and I just love how these two pair with the gold ottoman.
I thought it would be fun to throw in a photo of what the space looked like the first time I saw it. It was a newly purchased home and a HUGE renovation happened throughout the house but this room remained intact.
The wallpaper was the inspiration for the whole room and I love how it came together. Just walking in the room now feels completely fresh, airy, bright and serene.

EMIL: A NATURE LOVERS TODDLER BOY ROOM REVEAL
I am SO EXCITED to reveal our newest little boy's room...a nature inspired space for sweet Emil! This room was created for a full-service client here in Vancouver and was designed with one of Emil's key interests in mind, the outdoors. With this project, our client wanted a toddler room created in their newly purchased home for her 2 year old son. What little boy wouldn't adore peering up at that tree while drifting off to sleep?!
When I first met Emil's mom, she had so many great ideas for the room, including a floor to ceiling mural of a tree, this incredible light and a loft bed. The room didn't have super high ceilings, so we sourced this gorgeous bed that would fit the room while still giving Emil the sense of a loft bed or truer to what we were going for, tree house.
I LOVE the bed and thankfully it was a universal hit, as Emil and both of his parents loved it too. It's just such a cute, fun space to climb into, peek out of, and to feel cozy in for reading books or night time sleep.
The tree mural was truly a labour of love created by Vancouver-based artist Kim Hunter, who has created murals all over the city and in various parts throughout Canada. Kim helped in choosing a similar tree to the ones that Emil can see from his windows and added layers of colours to tie in with the wood of the bed and colour of the rug.
We found this super cute nightlight from Studio Zoethout on Etsy and it is just beautifully made adding such a sweet and playful accessory that Emil can easily turn on and off himself. I am truly in love with the lamp and stool, from Stray Dog Designs.
This dresser is a key piece that will take Emil through his childhood years and well into his teens. The room was accessorized with cute wooden figures of animals and lots of books for Emil to access himself.
We chose these art prints, which were created by Amy Hamilton, who is a Canadian graphic designer and illustrator. The prints are beautiful quality and tie in perfectly with the outdoor theme. I really wanted to create a sense of playfulness in Emil's toddler boy room, while keeping in mind that he will grow with this space too.
When the room was fully complete, our little client was over the moon with what had been created. He literally leapt in and out of the bed, explored the toys and books and relaxed on the soft rug underfoot.

SCANDINAVIAN MAKEOVER OF WOODEN PLAYHOUSE
I have seriously dreamt of making over this wooden playhouse (similar) since the day it was put together...three years ago. Sigh. Children...take what seems like a busy life and they magically make it even busier. It was in serious need of a major overhaul as the stain had faded and wood planks had fallen off. It was a case of "good enough" and "someday" but this summer, it finally got the makeover it deserved! To redo the whole playhouse took a little work, to say the least. We started by removing all of the curved features. Then, after the initial sanding, it took 3 coats of Behr Ultra White paint to get the house covered and then the fun began! We spray painted all of the trim (easy and quick!), fixed the boards, added a few extras and then it was simple decoration.
Now...let me just show you what this beauty looked like BEFORE the playhouse makeover.
And...AFTER!
Same same but, oh-so-different! What do you think? Do you like the lighter version with pastel hues a little better??? You can shop the stools (and our play table, not pictured) here!
It's true...so many adventures really do happen here. With three kids 5 and under, there are countless play dates, backyard summer escapes, imaginary pies, lemonade stands, muffins made. Keep in mind I really do have a 5-year-old whose favourite food is blue cheese! Don't you love this adorable wooden sign from Parade and Company? It pairs perfectly with the garland from Canadian maker Jae to the Wall. These peaches were hand picked from Papa's tree the day we left from our week in the Okanagan and apart from making perfect props for the revamped playhouse, they were the juiciest, most delicious peaches I have ever tasted.
This gorgeous market basket is from Majorel Design and I love the flowers from Gypsy Petal so much. They are indestructible and the kids love playing with them!
So there you have it. Our wooden playhouse lovingly restored and refreshed for the kids to enjoy and make memories in for years to come. Who wants to come over and play?
ELLA'S SOFT PINK AND GOLD TODDLER ROOM
Over the moon excited to share our newest project, ELLA'S ROOM!
This room was created for a toddler girl and is bright and airy with touches of gold and rose quartz, Pantone's colour of 2016.
Three-year-old Ella and her family had recently moved into a bigger home and were looking to have the room transformed from a baby nursery into a space that Ella could enjoy not only now as a toddler but somewhere special that could be used and loved for years to come. The overall goal was to create a bright, airy and whimsical space in soft pink, hints of grey and accents of gold - something completely dreamy!
Starting with the Numero 74 canopy, the rest of the room took cues from there. The perfectly muted pink fabric is soft and forms a lovely little retreat for laying, reading and playing with friends. The gold stars add to the whimsical decor and tie in with the gold throughout.
Keeping the crib from the nursery made sense, as it was easy to remove a side and convert the crib to a day bed. Lots of cushions and soft linens are fun for the day and so simple to remove for bedtime. Above the daybed are feather light angel wings that can come off for wearing or put back on the wall for display.
Lucky little Ella loves dressing up so a sweet little dress up corner was created for her to hang her special dresses and fairy wings as well as house her growing collection of wands and accessories.
She adores not only dressing herself, but also her stuffed animals. The sweet deer and cat are exquisitely handmade in Poland and found on Etsy. Ella loved them so much that more clothes for the animals were ordered for her to play dress up with.
A lovely little DIY touch is the cloud shelves. Ella's mom found this idea and happily pitched in to create this special touch for her daughter. The rain hooks were painted to match with the Rose Quartz throughout the room and are great for hanging little jackets and purses at just the right height.
The gold mirror adds a huge pop of glamour to the space and will easily grow with Ella and be used through the years to come. Looking through the mirror, you can see the angel wings and dreamy bedding.
To keep the room looking as beautiful as when it is styled, sufficient storage was a must! Sweet Ella has lots of stuffed animals that she loves to pull out and play with. Thankfully, they can easily be tossed back into the baskets when it is time to clean up!
With all the sweet details and special DIY touches, Ella's new room is now a gorgeous space for her to grow and create memories in.

CHLOE'S BIG GIRL BEDROOM
I am beyond excited to share our newest little client, Chloe's, room with you. We featured little brother Hudson's room at the end of 2014 and early this year were contacted to come back and redecorate his older sister's space into a fun room for her to play, dream and grow up in!
Chloe is a gorgeous 3 1/2 year old who had firm desires of gold hearts and purple! She loves bunnies and has started a little collection of Maileg bunnies and mice. Her mom adored the wall decals in her brother's room and we thought the combination of big and mini hearts would add the metallic sparkle of gold that Chloe would love. She did. Watching her come into the room once that decal wall was installed made my heart melt, especially when her eyes widened and she said, "ooooh…it's B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L"! When little clients are happy, so am I.

HELLO!
WINTER DAISY was created when Melissa Barling was laying on the couch while pregnant with twins. She dreamed of a beautiful baby room but couldn't get up and make it happen. The babies were born and in those mid night wakes and early morning feeds, she decided to leave her corporate job to start a design studio + blog. Welcome to WINTER DAISY.
